He was proud of his RNZAF service during WW2.
“So thus we fly by day and night.
Our work it never ends,
The empty sea, the cloudy sky, both to us are friends”
He was a great handyman and could make almost anything in his home workshop.
“Hone the tools that fit your palm
Get Clay or Wood or Sand
And find the thrill the craftsman knows
Of creating it by hand”
With thanks to the staff at Masterton Hospital for their care of Ashley in his final days and to the staff at Lansdowne Park for their care over the last 4 years.
