For any person whose estate is unable to meet the total cost of funeral expenses a Funeral Grant to a maximum of $2,152.66 (as at February 2022) may be available from Income Support.
A Childs Funeral Grant, again from Income Support to a maximum of $2,152.66 (the child's parents are asset tested)
Rosewood has WINZ funeral grant forms, and is able to assist in completing them with you.
When someone dies due to the result of an accident their funeral costs (up to a maximum of $6,569.53 as at February 2022) could be covered by ACC. Spouse and Dependent Children also can be entitled to ACC payments.
Rosewood Funeral Home is able to assist you in claiming ACC funeral grant payments.

Ex Service Personnel who are registered with the NZ or Allied Forces are eligible for a plot in the designated services area at the local Masterton Cemetery at no charge. Interment fees for burial (or ashes burial) still apply at the current council rate. The standard bronze services plaque is available at no charge to the family as long as the plaque is placed in the Masterton or Riverside Park Cemeteries and the deceased is a member of the Masterton Returned Services Association.
New Zealand War Disablement Pension
Veterans' pension also gives entitlement to a lump sum payment on the death of the veteran, and a lump sum payable on the death of a partner. (Conditions do apply) This is paid in addition to the war funeral grant.
